David performs the cataloging for the library’s overall collection. He also manages the rare book collection, including the extensive collection of rare Books of Common Prayer and other rare books of significance to the Anglican and Episcopal church. He is passionate about preserving the history and literature of the Anglican/Episcopal church, dating back to the 16th century.

Beth is responsible for the restoration and preservation of the library’s rare book collection. She learned her craft studying under the former head of rare book conservation at the library of Congress and spent many years repairing and preserving books for the Arlington County public library.

Description

Riley Temple is responsible for the growth of the African American Episcopal Historical Collection (AAEHC), a joint project of the Bishop Payne Library at VTS and the Historical Society of The Episcopal Church.  Temple is a retired telecommunications attorney and a 2014 VTS Theology graduate.

Joseph Thompson

Dr. Thompson leads the excellent Bishop Payne Library team in helping members of the Seminary community access the information that they need to meet their study, research, and teaching goals.  As a member of the faculty in Practical Theology, he teaches in the area of Race and Ethnicity Studies.  He holds degrees from the University of Delaware, Yale University, and Virginia Theological Seminary.  

Denton Waits

Denton oversees the Virginia Theological Seminary Archives and serves on the Steering Committee of the African American Episcopal Historical Collection (AAEHC), a joint project of the Bishop Payne Library at VTS and the Historical Society of The Episcopal Church. Denton holds a master's degree in American Religious History and Museum/Archival Studies and is a part-time M. Div. student here at VTS.
