The Bishop Payne Library has launched an in-person and digital exhibit featuring materials from the John Walker Collection of the VTS Archives. The display tells the story of Bishop Walker's intersections with Black history in the Episcopal Church, the United States, and the world.
The Rt. Rev. John T. Walker was the first African American graduate of Virginia Theological Seminary and later the Bishop of Washington. His life of advocacy and witness left a profound legacy for all who seek to do justice.
