Jim Ross donated this collection of Syro-Palestinian pottery to VTS in 1996. He retired from the VTS faculty that same year, having served as Professor of Old Testament since 1968. Ross' interest in archaeology is evidenced here and through his extensive archaeological fieldwork in Palestine beginning in the 1950s. These pieces, a mixture of common household items and ornamental pottery, represent Bronze Age and Iron Age ceramics from the Levant. Ross acquired the collection between 1953 and 1971, purchased and authorized for export by the Israeli and Jordanian Departments of Antiquities. Most items were from Bab edh-Dhra, Shechem, and Shiloh.
